Minor swelling is normal as long as there is no significant redness.

Is bleeding from the surgical wound normal?
Yes, for about one week to ten days post operatively bleeding can be expected. If drainage increases instead of decreasing each day you should notify your doctor. Also, if redness increases, notify your doctor.
What type of activity would be acceptable after surgery?
Patients should avoid bending, lifting and twisting motions after surgery. Excessive twisting and lifting should be avoided after cervical surgery.
